Rights and Responsibilities of Camp Operators (NY State Sanitary Code Subpart 7-2)

  • Notify Parents and Authorities:
    • Inform parents and the local health department if their child is involved in any serious injury, illness, or abuse incident.
  • Staffing:
    • Screen the background and qualifications of all staff.
    • Train staff about their duties.
  • Supervision:
    • Provide supervision during hours of operation for day camps.
  • Facilities and Meals:
    • Maintain all camp physical facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.
    • Provide safe and wholesome meals.
  • Safety Plans:
    • A written plan for camp safety, health, and fire safety.
  • Parent Notification Requirements:
    • The camp is required to be permitted by the Nassau County Department of Health.
    • The camp is inspected twice annually.
