6 weeks to 17 months

We have several infant classes. These classes have wonderful caring people who have been with us for many years. The staff is trained in every aspect of taking care of infants. They attend workshops every year for the most up to date information. The staff are also all current in infant CPR, First Aid, brain development, promoting language, safe sleeping, shaken baby syndrome, tummy time, and proper changing procedures.

A rich environment is set up where toys and equipment are constantly changing to meet the individual needs of each child. We are fortunate to have several classes. The infants are grouped according to their development, non-walkers, walkers, and infant transitioning to toddler age halfway through the year.

Each class has its own food preparation area with a refrigerator. Parents provide the food for their child along with a feeding and napping schedule. Mom’s breast feeding is always welcome.

Daily notes go home every day indicating what the child ate, drank, length of time sleeping, diaper changing, and activities of the day and overall temperament.

We have paths throughout our 2 and half acre property for daily walks in the strollers. On a beautiful day the infants can be seen on a big blanket out in the grass under a tree. Music is playing and they are stretching, crawling, playing with balls, trying to catch bubbles, feeling grass for maybe the first time and enjoying the fresh air.

Big Chief also has a great support system for our infant parents. What a wonderful social beginning for your infant and a feeling of peace for you.
